An evaluation of household tissue softness

This study extends our 2019 paper, a of the softness household tissues using tissue soft-ness analyzer (TSA) and hand-felt panels. It revisits theory Holger Hollmark by applying reciprocal matrix approach to measure sheet bulk surface softness, then make comparisons with results obtained TSA instrument. We ascertained that there was high correlation R=0.904 between panel-corrected (CHF) (TSA-HF); low R=-0.678 (CHSS) smoothness (TS-750). Three hunches about measurements were confirmed: 1) Hollmark’s confirmed coefficient (R=0.895) CHF CHSS indicating two parameters are mutually dependent; 2) TS-750 differs from has partial influence on TSA-HF R = -0.510; 3) although only limited influences TSA-HF, further opportunities for their application can be provided pertinent regression equations.
